Alphabet Date ‘C’ – Childfree Cinema Trip!

Tuesday was Alphabet Date Night ‘C’ for Sy & I. My Mum came round after work to look after the Smalls and we trotted off clutching our as-yet unused Christmas present of a £20 cinema voucher to catch a train and have some ‘us’ time.

Child-free!

*drools*

We got off the train and headed straight off to get our Cinema tickets. Then we went into the pub next door for a meal which was lovely – I quite enjoyed eating a

whole meal out without getting indigestion from picking up crayons off the floor every three seconds or trying to eat my food over a breast-feeding baby without dropping sauce on them.

The meal was finished off with a Chocolate, Caramel and Cream Sundae to share. YUM!

Then off we went to watch Tranformers 3 in 3D (oh yeah, proper romantics us) which we thoroughly enjoyed. It was Sy’s first 3D experience and I think it was possibly my favourite 3D film to date (I’ve seen all of 3 so, you know, I’m an expert).

Then after the film we had a quick smooch around Asda (mostly coz Sy needed a wee but I’ll take any excuse to browse the clothes section) and got me a bargain T-shirt, Tori a cute outfit for her birthday (I can’t believe she’s two next week…) and Mum a bar of Chocolate as a thank-you-for-babysitting present.

We had just over an hour to kill before the train home so we popped into our favourite pub for a swift pint/vodka and Coke (and a shot of Raspberry Sambucca…part of me is still a student…) and then headed home to find that neither child had exploded and all was well with the world.

Now all I have to do is survive tomorrow’s Olympic GamesMaker interview without making a prat of myself or my boobs exploding from not feeding Arthur (I have already packed a spare shirt…)!

B is for Beer & Babysitter

Last night was Alphabet Date Night B for me & Sy. We double dated actually, with Sy’s dad & his partner which was great fun and it may well have been the first of many as we decided we needed to get together more often.

First of all we roped in my Mum and Dad to be Babysitters for Tori (Arthur had to come along due to his refusal to drink expressed milk) and then we headed off to our favourite local curry house The King Of Spice for a meal.

We had a Beer each and I kept up the B theme with a Byriani curry. It was delicious and it was great to be out (almost) without the kids (ours or theirs!) and have a grown up (ha ha) meal together.

Then we came home and Sy & I opened our unexpected present – a Blue guitar! (And they didn’t even know we were having a B themed date lol)

All in all it was a great night and I can’t wait til next month or whenever it is we all go out again :)

A is for Albion, Atari and Alphabetti Spaghetti!

Yesterday Sy & I had our first Alphabet Date and it was good fun, if a little daft :)

We started by going for lunch at the pub just round the corner, conveniently named The Albion. We picked a table, sat down and then had a chuckle at the ‘Random Fact’ on our Table Number – it was about the Alphabet!!

Now they are currently running on a mini menu in The Albion because they’ve only recently started doing food so there wasn’t anything starting with A that we could have but we did get Tori an Apple Fruit Shoot so she could join in the fun.

£25 bought us all a drink each, Sy & I 3 courses each (we had to have ‘Afters’…) and Tori a main meal – definitely good value!

Then we went home and whilst the Smalls had an Afternoon nap, Sy and I Investigated our extensive PS2 game collection and found some A games to play. You can’t beat the Atari Arcade classics (we have an Anthology, conveniently) and bombing round doing tricks on an ATV is always fun! (All of this done with the iPod set to random playing only artists beginning with A, I might add. We listened to a bizarre mixture including quite a bit of ABBA, AC/DC and Ace of Base.)

To finish off our date we had dinner – Alphabetti Spaghetti, Alphabet chips & chicken dippers followed by Dutch Apple Cake. Yum!

There wasn't a single flippin' Y in the whole packet of Alphabet chips so I had to raid the Alphabetti!!

(Thanks Liberty for the funky header! x)
