30 Day Music Challenge: Day Thirty

Your Favourite Song At This Time Last Year

Er….I have no idea. And I just looked up the top 10 chart singles in this month last year and knew precisely one of them…and I didn’t even like that one.

Ah well, this song is fairly consistently one of my favourites at any time so it will do:

Laughter In The Rain – Neil Sedaka

30 Day Music Challenge: Day Twenty-Nine

A Song From Your Childhood

Decisions, decisions…funny though, almost every song I’m thinking of comes off the same tape of children’s records…

Contenders for this included: Puff The Magic Dragon, Thumbelina, Inchworm, The Ugly Duckling, Tubby The Tuba, Popo the Puppet and Little Bunny Foo Foo.

My choice? This:

The Little Fiddle – Danny Kaye

Danny Kaye = genius

30 Day Music Challenge: Day Twenty-Eight

A Song That Makes You Feel Guilty

You know when you’re a teenager and you promise the world to someone and really truly mean it? Then you grow up a bit and realise it’s not what you really want but they’ve set their heart on it for the rest of forever.

This song makes me feel guilty.

Because I walked away.

Head Over Feet – Alanis Morissette

30 Day Music Challenge: Day Twenty-Seven

A Song You Wish You Could Play On An Instrument

Pretty much any song – that would mean I could play an instrument properly!!

But, on reflection, I’d love to be able to rock out something like this on a guitar:

You Took The Words Right Out Of My Mouth (Hot Summer Night)Meatloaf

On a hot Summer night, would you offer your throat to the wolf with the red roses…?

Yes! Yes! Yes! *mush*

30 Day Music Challenge: Day Twenty-Six

A Song You Can Play On An Instrument

Hmmm. I’m not very musical but I can read music (slowly) and am capable of picking out a tune one-handedly on a piano/keyboard and I can pick out a few chords on the guitar too.

Songs I can play? On piano – mostly Christmas Carols and No Matter What by BoyZone. On Guitar – Blowing In The Wind by Bob Dylan, the opening riff of Layla by Roy Orbison and this one, which was a Guitar Club favourite at Primary School:

Sloop John ‘B’The Kingston Trio

(The Kingston Trio are another favourite group of mine. Love their simple musicality and variety.)

30 Day Music Challenge: Day Twenty-Five

A Song That Makes You Laugh

This always makes me chuckle to myself in a totally childish way (Disguised naughty words AND lots of very dodgy euphemisms for s.e.x….). My friend totally didn’t get it – she’d never had to use or learn the NATO Phonetic Alphabet so it went totally over her head. I, however, was born on a military base and thus come from a family who know it off by heart…

Foxtrot Uniform Charlie Kilo – The Bloodhound Gang

30 Day Music Challenge: Day Twenty-Four

A Song You Want Played At Your Funeral

This is easy. It was played/sung at my confirmation, Tori’s Christening, I’d like it at my wedding and I want it at my funeral.

One More Step Along The World I Go

30 Day Music Challenge: Day Twenty-Three

A Song You Want Playing At Your Wedding

There are a couple of Tori Amos, Tina Dico and Avril Lavigne tracks that instantly spring to mind for this but I am doing my best to not repeat artists in this challenge so another song I would love to play at my wedding would be this because I’m a hopeless Disney romantic and adore this song XD

Love Will Find A Way – The Lion King II: Simba’s Pride OST

30 Day Music Challenge: Day Twenty-Two

A Song You Listen To When You’re Sad

The piano in this is so beautifully sad…

Good Enough – Evanescence

30 Day Music Challenge: Day Twenty-One

A Song You Listen To When You’re Happy

When I’m happy something I love to do is blast out the soundtracks of my favourite musicals. From Joseph to Cats, Aspects of Love to War of the Worlds – I love them all.

Master of the House – Les Miserables (TAC)
