June Challenge – How did I do?

Back at the start of the month (which feels like four hundred years ago for some reason) I pledged that I would do the washing up at least every other day to prevent it from becoming a me vs every-plate-in-the-house all-out war.

Did I manage it? Just about.

I did great at first. I did better than every other day, I did it *every* day for at least a week. Then I reverted to every other. Then I went camping for the weekend which meant there were 3 days of no washing up (note, OH didn’t do it in my absence either) so I had lots on day four. Then I got back into every other day until this last week where I wobbled and had another 3 day build up. But I did it all yesterday so there isn’t much left now.

All in all I’d say this month has been a success. More so than I was expecting anyway and hopefully the habit has been set and I will somehow manage to keep it up and never again vanish under a mountain of bowls or be unable to find a clean knife/fork/teaspoon/mug when I want one.

The house still looks like a small bomb has hit it and the dusters have clearly gone on strike but the washing up is manageable and the laundry basket is pretty much empty. Baby steps eh? We’ll get there.

June Challenge – The Battle Of The Dishes

This month I am trying to take an active step into getting on track with the housework. I am patchy to start with – worse now I have two small people to distract me. So my aim? Get to grips with the washing up.

Is that it?

Yes.

It has a habit of being left until we have no bowls/knives/spoons/whatever it is you happen to need and then it is a marathonto get it all done and there is never enough room on the draining board. (What’s that I hear you say? Once a student, always a student. Possibly…)

It’s a bit of a pain because we have to turn the immersion heater on to get any hot water in the summer so you have to plan ahead, turn on the water, remember to turn it off again an hour later and then wash up. I tend to forget to turn it on and then not do the washing up.

NOT THIS MONTH!

I aim to do it at the very least every other day, preferably daily. At least then it should only be a twenty minute job rather than an hours grind.

Wish me luck!

(Alternatively of course we could just all go on a crash diet and not eat so there isn’t any washing up. Or have takeaway and use our fingers…)

Do you have a personal aim or challenge for this month – Something you want to get done or a target to reach? Why not blog about it and then link up over on TiddlyOmPomPom’s blog by clicking the button at the top – moral support is always good!
